Mission Overview :

Client: A fintech-based company
Timeline: June 2024
Role: UX Designer + Copywriter
Tools in my inventory: Figma, Illustrator, Notion
Objective: Design a minimal, elegant website that builds trust, feels modern, and looks as sharp as a well-balanced blade in a boss fight.

Level 1: The Brief — “Enter the Fintech Realm”

Every project begins with a quest giver. Mine wanted a clean, functional website that didn’t scream “finance” with fear, but whispered “trust me” with calm confidence.

The challenge?

To build something that speaks equally to people in finance, education, and software — essentially three factions, each with their own language and expectations. My mission was to craft clarity and earn credibility, while keeping the visual tone light, breathable, and approachable.

Level 2: Recon & Discovery

Before designing, I went on a reconnaissance run.

I studied rival guilds (competitor websites) and decoded user behaviors.

Here’s what I found in the field:

  • Players (users) bounce fast if they don’t see what the platform does within 5 seconds.

  • Trust icons, transparent CTAs, and crisp copy are power-ups for credibility.

  • Clutter is the real enemy — minimalism is the critical hit.

These insights shaped my battle plan: Simplify the narrative, enhance readability, and make every pixel purposeful.

Level 3: Crafting the Blueprint

With the research map unlocked, I began crafting the information architecture — the world layout.

My sitemap followed a clean, story-like progression: Hero → Services → Value → Trust → CTA → Footer.

Each section became a “checkpoint” designed for quick scanning and fast onboarding — much like a good tutorial level.

Wireframes acted as early sketches of the terrain: clean paths, no obstacles, and every CTA within a two-click reach.

Level 4: Visual Alchemy

Then came my favourite part — forging the UI.

Color Palette:

I chose a calm, futuristic colour palette — think soft whites, muted greys, and a confident accent (like a rare weapon glowing faintly in a dark corridor). Every colour had a purpose: white for clarity, grey for neutrality, accent blue for trust and focus.

Typography:

Strong sans-serifs as my “main weapon” — clean, readable, modern. Paired with generous white space to let the visuals breathe.

Icons & Components:

Each button, card, and section was built like modular equipment — reusable, scalable, responsive.

I wanted the site to feel light but powerful, minimal but not sterile.

Level 5: Building the UI System

This is where I started leveling up consistency.

I created:

  • Button states (idle, hover, active, disabled) — like attack animations for a UI element.

  • Feature blocks for each service — visually balanced “info cards.”

  • Responsive breakpoints that kept the site fluid across devices — no lag, no clipping.

Testing on mobile felt like checking movement physics — ensuring each tap and scroll felt natural and snappy.

Level 6: Hero Screens Unlocked

I designed several key screens that defined the visual rhythm:

  1. Hero Section:

    • Tagline: “A Website for Everyone. Finance. Education. Software. Anyone.”

    • A strong opening scene — minimal copy, heavy impact.

  2. Feature Grid:

    • Explained services in bite-sized, scroll-friendly layouts.

    • Each element supported the story — no filler quests here.

  3. Trust Section:

    • Subtle motion and whitespace used to convey calm reliability.

  4. Call-to-Action / Footer:

    • Clear direction. Clean typography. The “quest complete” moment.

Level 7: Challenges & Boss Fights

Boss 1 — The Jargon Monster:
Finance copy tends to turn into cryptic spell text.
Solution: Simplified tone, plain language, and visuals that explained concepts faster than words could.

Boss 2 — The Trust Barrier:
Users are cautious with fintech.
Solution: Used soft palette, micro-interactions, and minimalist typography to project transparency and calm.

Boss 3 — Responsiveness Chaos:
Maintaining structure across multiple devices.
Solution: Built mobile-first and tested iteratively, refining breakpoints until flow was flawless.

Level 8: Results & Loot Drop

When the final build went live, it hit all the client’s objectives:

  • Modern look that elevated the brand’s digital presence.

  • Faster comprehension (users understood the service offering almost instantly).

  • Clear user path leading to more inquiries and sign-ups.

It wasn’t just about pixels; it was about earning trust points in every scroll.

Level 9: XP Gained & Skill Upgrades

From this mission, I levelled up in:

  • UX Copywriting: crafting concise, story-driven messaging.

  • Design Systems: building modular components and scalable UI.

  • Domain Adaptability: translating complex fintech concepts into simple visual language.

If I revisit this quest, I’d add:

  • More micro-interactions for engagement.

  • A light/dark mode system for accessibility.

  • Data visualisation modules to make financial insights more immersive.

Mission Complete

This project wasn’t just a design task — it was a strategic boss run through the fintech domain.
I walked away not just with a finished product, but with new design XP and a sharper creative weapon set.

Result: A clean, elegant, and trustworthy fintech website — designed to make finance feel less like a dungeon
and more like a well-lit path forward.
